Class Reunion

This Friday Mark had the honor of attending my 10-year reunion for Canandaigua Academy. Having graduated two years earlier in the class of 96, he missed attending his own reunion. So I thought he would be honored to attend mine. I'm not sure he saw it that way.

The first issue we encountered was not the small number of people attending, the boring conversation ("so... what have you been up to?" "How many kids do you have?") or the disgusting buffet food, but the lack of suitable alcohol. Apparently "open wine and beer bar" on an invitaiton translates to "CASH BAR" once you arrive. We got duped!
We acted fast and purchased our drinks- several of them- and crisis was averted. Kind of.
We still endured boring and inane conversation. Some of us endured it better than others.
And when we felt we were about to snap from listening to certain classmates brag about their professional accomplishments we retreated to the bar.

"What ever happened to him?"
"I think he's living in San Francisco working as a personal stylist."
"Wow, never saw that coming from the class's most popular kid."
"Yeah, but he always did seem to get enjoyment out of slapping his fellow football player's asses on the field..." Some of us entertained ourselves by playing with the baby's toys (can you believe some of the most immature people at the reunion were actually parents?? Yeah, myself included.)
But others of us did not see the humor in using a pacifier holder to hold a beer. Ah, well. It's over. Now it's just another 10 years before we see all these strangers again.
