With Jacob in my life we condensed the trip to two short days this year. Daddy watched Jacob for one night, and mommy and grandma made a break for it.
And what a break! This was the ice on our airplane in Rochester. It took nearly 20 minutes to de-ice (not that we're complaining- we'd much rather be late than fly like this!)

When we arrived at JFK, where was all the snow? Heck, where was the cold? It was 50 degrees outside!
We checked in to our hotel (conveniently located a block from Macy's) and headed out to the South Street Seaport to buy discount show tickets at TKTS.
"Look, mom, it's the Brooklyn Bridge!" "Yes, Taryn, we see it EVERY time we're here."
"Yeah, I know. But we never actually dare to cross over it. One never wants to stray from the safety of midtown Manhattan."
We checked out the "Our Bodies" exhibit at the seaport before beginning our shopping. Sure, Macy's isn't such a big deal anymore now that it's in every mall across the country, but we had to check out the windows just the same.
Notice the umbrellas. It may have been 62 degrees on our second day in the city, but it wasn't very nice out.
After looking at Macy's child-friendly windows we went to Saks 5th Avenue. Not so kid friendly (or wallet friendly, for that matter)
$300 for a Coach purse? Hah! That's what Canal Street and China Town are for.
We felt like 007 buying the counterfeit goods this year. They no longer stock their stalls with fake Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton goods. Nor do they have them in black garbage bags on the street. Now they take you through secret doors into hidden rooms to select your merchandise.

Hmm... maybe this blog isn't the best place to be posting this. If it's illegal to sell them, it's probably not wise to buy them...

They sell fish in China Town too. Not illegal.

Tuesday night we had dinner in a Brazilian restaurant along Restaurant Row and then saw "Chicago."
I saw some very strange (and scarry!) fashion while in the city. But I'll save that for the next post. I'm still gathering photographs as evidence of the atrocity that is the "skinny jean."
