Live from London- Olympic Update #4

Saturday was a great day for Team GB in Athletics.  We had to watch it on the TV of course, but were thrilled by Jessica Ennis winning the hepathon (she is really well liked in the UK).  A British guy won the long jump (US was second).  Jacqui, Lex and I were on our feet cheering for the 10,000 m race -- they cheering for Mo Farah of GB and I for Galen of the US (who is his running mate in Oregon).
Mom's caption for this photo:  "Oh dear, the weather has turned to liquid sunshine!"
Yesterday at the Women's Marathon the British were very proud of their Olympics.  You think we were a lot of patriotic clothing on the 4th of July -- the Union Jack is everywhere!!!  It was nice at the Marathon to see people from all countries -- Czech Republic cheering their girl, Irish cheering theirs (who was last -- they cheered her anyway), a huge contingent from China and Japan was there.  Plus some US flags were waving.
It was a great atmosphere with huge cheers for the British girl who substituted for Britain's best runner (who pulled out of the competition last week due to injury) - the substitute was very far back in the competition, but that didn't affect Team GB's enthusiasm.  Nor did the rain which lasted about an hour.  Thank goodness the sun then returned which made it a much nicer event to watch!
Mom's Caption:  They ran past us six times.  Some looking worse for the wear on their final lap.

Today Jacqui and Lex returned to work and I'm off to shop in Tunbridge Wells.  Love you all!
