Each summer Mark takes part in an "invitational," either at the country club we were formally members of or at Bristol Harbor with his friend Lou. After three full days of golfing (and therefore not seeing the family at all) the club wisely holds a closing dinner to which the wives, affectionately known as "golf widows" can attend.

It's just a simple buffet, cheap prizes for the guys, and a couple of trophies to hand out, but boy, isn't it nice to see your husband again (and have the kids at home with a sitter!) after a long three-day weekend.
