Then it was off to the quaint village of Skaneateles. Our original plan was to stay in a B&B, but we ended up renting a full house for the same price. We stayed in, cooked dinner, and enjoyed quiet time away from the chaos of our own homes.
In the morning we headed into town for the Dickens Days and some more shopping. The shops here were quaint (and expensive!) and there were dozens of carolers and actors strolling the streets in Victorian garb.
And that's when my weekend abruptly ended. With a quick phone call from a panicked daddy, I jumped in the car and headed home to meet them in urgent care where K was being treated for a continued fever and vomiting.
It's important to get some adult time away from the kids. But it's even more important to be there with them when they need you.
