Breaking Ground

There hasn't been a new post in a while. There's been a LOT of stress. Building the new house has been great- and it's going very smoothly. Getting our old house off our hands has not been smooth.

But I don't want to start off on that tangent, because every time I think of DAWN KANE of HUNT REALTY my blood pressure starts to rise and I get all exciteable. So let's focus on the positive things.

We were supposed to close on our house May 22nd. Because of the incompetant DAWN KANE of HUNT REALTY we didn't. Since we were completely oblivious to the stupidity going on around us, we packed up our house like good little homeowners the weekend before that.We rented a POD for the move, which seemed to make sense. They dropped it off in our driveway, we packed it up, and a week later they drove it off to a warehouse where it will stay until our new house is completed.

It seemed pretty big... but it didn't hold all of our stuff.
The rest of our stuff went into Jay's barn, to the unending ire of Kathy. To be fair, we ARE taking up a TON of space!
So with half of our life packed up in a POD, and the other in the barn, we moved into my parent's house. Our poor cats were carted off to my brother Kyle's house for a vacation. And we prepared to sign off on our house.
But it didn't happen on that Friday as planned. Or the next. Because DAWN KANE of HUNT REALTY forgot to order the Radon test! And then she screwed up paperwork because of a stupid $350 consession over the septic tank that the inspector stated did not need to be fixed. And she wouldn't return calls to the buyer's mortgage company, stalling the process completely!!!!
And sadly enough, all of that pales compared to the fact that we FAILED our radon test, and will now be responsible for mitigating the problem. Seriously, who does this happen to?
But on to safer subjects, here is our basement. Sweet!
I'll post more pictures as we go along, but needless to say we are cautiously excited. Once we close on the house and never have to deal with DAWN KANE of HUNT REALTY again, we'll be very excited!
